Marathon Advice from Yer Mom

No. Wait. It’s my mom. Sorry ’bout that……

On Saturday my mom gave me a call as she was driving home from work because she wanted to pass along some advice she received when she was running her first marathon; nine year ago.

Instead of just typing them out for all y’all, I used Recite to make pretty quotes because you can put anything on a pretty background and have it be meaningful 🙂

(Thanks to Carly at Snack Therapy for sharing the awesomeness of Recite!)

Related, and definitely not from my mom. I’m considering writing this on my marathon bib, because why wouldn’t I?! I mean really, I’m going to be running for four freaking hours, I might as well have fun with it, right?!

Tell me, what is your best marathon (or race) advice? Please share in the comments!

  1. I have not run one marathon, I over hydrated, over fueled, and started out maybe a bit fast so don’t do any of that or by mile 23 you might me vomiting or maybe that’s just me 😉

    • My first half marathon I had to pee at the start and couldn’t decide what to do, so I spent the entire race debating whether or not to stop and pee and, in the end, I just kept going. It was not fun. Moral of the story: 1) pee and 2) don’t drink so dang much! 🙂

    • Yes!! I’ve already planned that out 🙂 I’m going to have my dad bag check my jacket with his stuff since he starts 30 min after me, so I can wear my jacket at the start and then he can meet me at the finish with a jacket/sweater since he’ll be done, oh….two hours before me 🙂
